Cat C9.3 engine, 9.3 L: 222 kW net at 1,700 rpm per ISO 9249, 242 kW gross at 1,800 rpm, 1,632 N·m net torque at 1,100 rpm. Caterpillar reports about 5% more engine power than the H Series. Planetary powershift transmission (4F/4R) with a lock-up clutch torque converter and lock-to-lock shifting for acceleration and speed on grades, 39.5 km/h top speed.

Caterpillar reports up to 15% lower fuel consumption than the H Series 972. Standard Economy Mode, automatic idle shutdown and load-sensing hydraulics for implements and steering reduce fuel burned per tonne loaded; actual results depend on configuration, application and operator.

The C9.3 meets China Nonroad Stage III and is equivalent to U.S. EPA Tier 3 / EU Stage IIIA. Standard fluids include extended life coolant with freeze protection to -34 °C; a -50 °C coolant is optional.

Z-bar linkage with Performance Series buckets from 3.4 to 9.9 m3. 196 kN breakout force and 16,164 kg static tipping load at full 37° turn (with tire deflection). Hinge pin height at maximum lift is 4,458 mm on the standard linkage and 4,793 mm with the optional high-lift linkage for taller trucks and hoppers.

Full-flow hydraulic filtration plus an additional loop filter, Cat XT hoses with O-ring face seal couplings and revised hose routing to reduce hose wear. Heavy-duty powershift transmission and axles; optional automatic front and rear differential locks for poor underfoot conditions.

One-piece power-tilting hood with side and rear doors, hydraulic and electrical service centers, and ground-level access to fuel fill and daily service points. Product Link and a rear-view camera are standard; Cat Production Measurement 2.0 on-the-go payload weighing and Cat Autolube are optional.
