The CAT 160K is a new 17.7-tonne motor grader in the 14 ft blade class, bought by highway contractors, earthworks companies and mine operators for building and maintaining roads, spreading base material and keeping quarry and mine haul roads in shape. Its 4.3 m moldboard covers a standard lane in fewer passes than a 12 ft machine, and the rear ripper/scarifier option breaks up compacted surfaces before regrading.
The Cat C7 engine emits equivalent to U.S. EPA Tier 3 / EU Stage IIIA and needs no DEF, which keeps fuelling simple on remote sites across Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and Central Asia. Variable Horsepower adds up to 15 kW in the higher gears used for long grading passes, while the lower 139 kW setting in 1st gear limits wheel slip and fuel burn in heavy cuts.
