Cat C7.1 engine, 7.01 L, 105 mm bore x 135 mm stroke: 151 kW net at 2,200 rpm per ISO 9249 (168 kW gross per ISO 14396) and 931 N·m net torque at 1,300 rpm. Cat automatic powershift transmission with torque converter, 4 forward / 3 reverse gears, kick-down and overspeed protection, 34 km/h top speed.

Engine emissions are equivalent to U.S. EPA Tier 3 and EU Stage IIIA. Without DPF or SCR aftertreatment there is no DEF to source and the engine is less exposed to local diesel quality than a Tier 4 Final unit, which suits fleets in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia.

Z-bar linkage with Performance Series buckets from 2.5 to 4.4 m3. 147 kN breakout force, 10,503 kg static tipping load at full 40° turn (ISO 14397-1), 4,188 mm B-pin height and 3,649 mm lift arm clearance for truck loading. Load-sensing piston pump delivers 248 L/min at up to 27,900 kPa; total hydraulic cycle 10.1 s.

Engine Idle Management System (EIMS) and automatic idle shutdown lower engine rpm or stop the engine after a set idle time, cutting fuel burned while trucks are queued. The hydraulically driven radiator fan runs only as fast as temperatures require, lowering average fuel use, noise and radiator plugging.

Service points and sight gauges are grouped for daily checks, with lockable access doors on the left, right and rear of the engine bay and hinged wheel guards. A rear swing-up grill opens the 9.5 fpi radiator core for cleaning. S·O·S oil sampling valves are standard; Cat Autolube and a power train bottom guard are options.

Pressurized ROPS/FOPS cab certified to ISO 3471 and ISO 3449 Level II, floor-level front glass for a view of the bucket edge, air conditioning with 10 vents, and pilot controls on two single-axis levers or one joystick with kick-down switch. Rear-view camera, ladders on both sides and guarded platforms are standard.
