XCMG XS85 / XS85PD Single Drum Vibratory Roller

Two drum options on one chassis: XS85 smooth-drum (7,500 kg) for granular fills, rock fill, and general base-layer compaction; XS85PD padfoot drum (8,240 kg) for cohesive soils and clay where kneading penetration matters. Padfoot variant adds 740 kg static weight from the drum pads. Contractors choose by site soil type without needing two different roller platforms.

Cummins 74 kW (99 hp class) engine at 2,200 rpm rated speed. EU Stage III emission standard — fits Australia, several Southeast Asian and African markets that have adopted Stage III as their entry rule. Cummins is one of the most widely supported diesel platforms in the construction sector with parts pool overlap across Chinese and global equipment lines.

Two vibration frequencies — 32 Hz and 36 Hz — for variable lift coverage. Lower frequency for thicker lift and higher excitation depth; higher frequency for thinner lift and finer surface finish. Operator selection lets one roller cover multiple lift thicknesses in sequence work without redeploying a different roller.

Specified for compaction of base layer, sub-base layer, and rock-fill on roads, railways, airports, dams, and industrial construction sites. 0-12 km/h working speed range, 55% gradeability for working on slope and ramp fills. 4,980 mm overall length, 1,870 mm width — narrow enough for shoulder work and constrained site access.

Sits below the 11 t XS115 and 12.5 t XS125 in the XCMG single-drum vibratory roller line. Fits contractors needing roller capacity below the 11-13 ton class — useful where lift thickness, finish requirement, or transit logistics favor a lighter machine.
